Jay Wright is retiring

Uh, what?

NCAA Basketball: Final Four-Semifinals-Villanova vs Kansas Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

First, the news:

With that, the league's leader in whining at officials has left a vacuum at the top of that leaderboard. With Wright gone, someone else will have to step up as the league's most prolific whiner, though it's doubtful that they'll be able to do so while still garnering so much inexplicable praise from announcers for being a total class act.

Wright wasn't just the best dressed giant baby in the Big East; he was also the league's most successful coach. In his time at Nova, he went to the Final Four on four occasions and and won the national championship twice. Aside from his incredibly annoying habit of whining about every call and most no calls, he was undisputably the class of the Big East for the better part of two decades.

Also, top marks to Jay Wright for simply stepping away when he was done coaching rather than announcing it a year in advance and the pretending it wasn't solely to draw more attention to himself like that wank Coach K.

Five weeks ago, Xavier was in the discussion for the worst coach in the league. Today, they've got a strong case for having the best.
