The Atlantic 10 takes center stage in today's bubble action

Xavier's old league has some teams positioned well, but there's the potential for a lot of attrition in this tournament.

Bubble games were in short supply yesterday, but we'll get you up to speed. Richmond took a loss they couldn't afford; they're done and dusted. Michigan State got crushed by Michigan; that's not a horrible loss, but Michigan State is now 14-11 on the season. Utah State won handily and managed to keep their season alive in so doing.

Let's move on to the present day, where basketball is brewing.

Duquesne v. St. Bonaventure, 11am, NBCSN

The Dukes already ruined everything for Richmond and now they're going to try to leave another A10 team's season in ashes. The Bonnies are a 10-seed on the Bracket Matrix right now, but this would be a Q3 loss that would leave them sweating out Selection Sunday in a big way.

UMass v. Saint Louis, 1pm, NBCSN

UMass is a Q3 opponent at a neutral site, and Saint Lou just beat them by 21 on the 1st, so this should be smooth sailing. It's not always like that in March though. I suspect the Billikens need this one and maybe one more to feel safe.

Dayton at VCU, 3:30pm, NBCSN

It's all day in the A10! I think this will count as a Q3 game for VCU, as they're hosting the A10 tournament this year. The Rams are 8-4 in Q1/2 including 7-0 in Q2, but they already have 2 Q3 losses and no real headline wins. A loss here has them in real trouble.

UNI v. Drake, 6pm, ESPN+

Drake was undefeated into February but managed to run to 18-0 without getting any resume wins. They're 1-1 in Q1 games - both versus Loyola Chicago - and have 2 Q3 losses. Northern Iowa is Q3 right now; this is a game Drake has to have if they don't want to be left out in the cold come Selection Sunday.

Ball State at Toledo, 7pm, CBSSN

Toledo is probably auto-bid or bust anyway, with 4 Q3/4 losses outweighing a 4-3 record in the top two quads, but this would definitely bury them. Coming off a bad loss against Central Michigan, the Rockets will be playing with real desperation here.

Georgia Tech at Wake Forest, 8pm, ACC Network

Ga Tech is fresh off a big Q2 win against Duke but still slots in under Xavier in the Bracket Matrix. Unlike X, they've got a Q3 game before the conference tournament that gives them the chance to hold serve and nothing more. A loss here would leave them needing maybe more than one win in the ACC tournament.
