First, the news:
KyKy Tandy missed practice today with an injury. Travis Steele said he doesn't know if he'll be available at Seton Hall on Saturday
— Adam Baum (@AdamJBaum) January 14, 2021
Steele wasn't super specific about what the injury is or whether there's a timeline for return, but Tandy is at least sidelines for a moment. While this is a hit to Xavier's depth, it's not as big a blow as it might have been earlier in the season.
Tandy was an integral part of the game plan in the early going, regularly pulling big minutes in November. He peaked with 41 minutes played in Xavier's overtime win over Eastern Kentucky. Since the Shootout, however, he hasn't eclipsed 11 minutes in any game. He hit a nadir last time out against Providence, pulling a DNP-CD even as the Muskies struggled to score for long stretches of play.
There have been rumblings that Tandy may be in the way out, though they are nothing more than speculation at this point. He's a very talented player, and I have to imagine there's room for him in the game plan. The first step to that will be getting healthy.
