As of right now there will be basketball and that means there will be a Big East. Bryan and Braydan got together this week to talk about what has changed in the conference (UConn is here now, for starters) and what hasn’t (Villanova being the best). All of their thoughts are just a click away.
That’s not all, though. The Big East has also announced that fall sports (soccer and the like, not basketball) will not play non-conference games. That could very well be the first step towards basketball taking the same step.
That could mean a lot if basketball does the same. Non-conference games are what keep the smaller conferences afloat. With football already moving toward mostly a conference slate, basketball doing the same thing could have serious financial repercussions for those teams usually involved in buy games.
