The writing has been on the wall for a while on this one, but now it's official: Naji Marshall is heading for a professional career. He leaves behind a Xavier career that saw him average 12.9/5.9/3.0 over the course of 99 games on a .439/.289/.710 shooting line. After posting a 110.7 ORtg as a freshman role player on a team dominated by upperclassmen, he took on a heavier usage rate that came with much lower efficiencies his final two seasons at X.
His appeal at the next level is obvious. He is tall, lanky, and athletic. His versatile offensive game was undermined by poor shooting and turnover problems at Xavier, but it wasn't hard to see him as a potential star when he was clicking.
Marshall's departure leaves Xavier with two empty scholarships for the upcoming season. We wish him all the best as he pursues his dream.
