Utah State trailed by 11 with 9:30 to play last night, but surged back to a 75-70 win over New Mexico. Sam Merrill carried the load with 29 as the Aggies escaped a game they couldn’t afford to lose. Wichita State did the exact opposite and dropped a chance for a big Q1 road win at Memphis, losing 68-60.

Continuing the theme of losing on the road, Stanford lost 68-65 at Oregon St. This moves them down to 20-10 and leaving the door wide open for Utah State.

There’s more bubble action coming down the pipe this evening, more conference tournament action and hopefully more excitement as we inch closer to Selection Sunday.

Richmond (First 4 Out) @ Duquesne, 9pm, ESPN+

The Spiders currently sit at 23-7 with this being their last regular season game. A win tonight would push them up to 3-2 in Q2, but is also a game they can’t lose if they don’t want to leave themselves a mountain to climb in the conference tournament.

NC State (First 4 Out) vs Wake Forest, 7pm, ACC Network

A win tonight would move NC State up to 19-12 on the year. They have good wins against Duke, at Virginia and against Wisconsin. However they still have 2 Q3 losses and will still need a couple ACC tournament wins even after a win tonight.

Utah State (First 4 Out) vs Wyoming, 11:30pm, CBSSN

This is yet another game that is more about not losing than actually winning. The Aggies essentially gain nothing with a win here except a chance at the auto bid. If another team on the bubble slips up though, we could see Utah State move on up.

The bubble action tonight comes from teams that are currently sitting just outside the field and looking to snatch a couple wins and sneak into the tournament. The Ohio Valley Tournament is also in action on ESPNU with all parties involved desperately vying for the auto-bid. It should make for a great spectacle, and that’s why it’s the most wonderful time of the year.
