First, as ever, the news:
Villanova coach Jay Wright has tested positive for COVID-19. The program is going on pause. https://t.co/HzdmeVKXCi

Villanova had already postponed their last game of the 2020 calendar year to give the players a mental health break, and now they'll get a chance to be even mentally healthier as their coach has cought Covid. Depending on the timing of the test and how quickly he can test out or be cleared, there's a chance Nova misses more than one game.
That won't affect Xavier directly. What will affect Xavier - whose coach is on record saying that the players want to play as much as possible - is that the game scheduled for the 2nd is now no longer going to be played that day.
As we have gone out of our way to repeat, Xavier is positioned as well as they can be for breaks like this, having packed games in early on. The team is sitting at 8-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference, with a game against Seton Hall on this coming Wednesday the next scheduled contest. As has been the case this year, Covid will have a say in whether or not that game is played.
Further bulletins as events warrant.
