The announcement was as succinct as it was direct. “The BIG EAST Conference announced today that Xavier’s game at DePaul on Friday, Dec. 18 has been postponed. Xavier, 7-0, is scheduled to open BIG EAST play on Sunday, Dec. 20 vs. Marquette at 2 p.m. at Cintas Center.” With exactly that much detail, Xavier is now down to two Big East games on the schedule that was released before the season started.
There is no word on whether this cancellation comes from the ongoing issues DePaul is having, they’ve not had a game yet, or from Xavier’s recent infection. There is also no further word on whether Xavier has something resembling an outbreak in their Tier One personnel, or just the one positive test. This season stunted by coronavirus rolls one. Hopefully it starts anew in a week.
