The SoCon might be a two-bid league and Saint Mary's doesn't deserve at-large consideration in March 11th's bubble watch

The Banners staff would be one of Saint Mary's five best wins this year, if they could beat us.

It was a busy weekend on the bubble, and the second best week of the college basketball year is in full swing now. Your Xavier Musketeers will probably have it all to do in Madison Square Garden later on, but there's plenty of basketball action to tide you over until Thursday. Few things are more exciting than watching a team get its ticket punched, so we'll start there.

SOCON CHAMPIONSHIP: Wofford v. UNC Greensboro, 7pm, ESPN

I played baseball with a dude who transferred in from Wofford. More to the point, the Terriers are 25-4 and unblemished outside of Q1, where they've collected 3 wins. Win or lose, they're in. UNCG is 26-5 and 2-5 in Q1. If they drop this one, they're a possible bid pirate. They've got a gaudy record and no bad losses, but 17 of their wins are Q4. They'll generate a lot of bubble chatter if they don't take the auto bid.

MAAC CHAMPIONSHIP: Iona v. Monmouth, 9pm, ESPN2

Not in this or any of the potentially infinite parallel universes does this game have bubble implications. The winner of this game will be somewhere south of 200 in the KenPom and starting at a 16-seed but also the experience of a lifetime. Tune in for do-or-die basketball; it's what March is all about.

San Diego v. Saint Mary's, 11:30pm, ESPN2

Saint Mary's has 1 Q1 and 2 Q3 losses. Their win at New Mexico State two weeks before Thanksgiving remains their crowning achievement on the year. I have no idea how they've generated any bubble chatter, but they have. They've gotten hosed in years past, but this season should be auto bid or bust for them.
