The initial Associated Press men's basketball poll dropped today, and Xavier came in at #19. The Muskies were one of three Big East teams cracking the top 25, with Villanova at 10th and Seton Hall two spots behind in 12th. A minority of pollsters found as many as seven Big East teams worthy of inclusion, with Marquette, Providence, Georgetown, and Creighton all receiving votes.
Xavier is one of just two Ohio teams in the poll, with OSU slotting one spot ahead of the Muskies in 18th.
Xavier has started ranked in the AP poll six other times, including a high of 7th in 2016-17. Those six teams combined for five NCAA tournament appearances and a 7-5 record in the Big Dance.
