Xavier duo of Trevon Bluiett and Kaiser Gates signs NBA summer league deals

The former Muskies went undrafted and will now battle for exposure in the summer league.

Xavier had two players linked with possible draft positions this year in Trevon Bluiett and Kaiser Gates. Neither of them heard his name called last night, but both have landed with NBA connections this morning thanks to the summer league.

Tre signed a deal to represent the New Orleans Pelicans while Kaiser wound up with the Chicago Bulls. There are really no guarantees at this point for either guy, but landing in the summer league is better than not doing so. You can almost imagine each guy finding a role - Tre as a bench scorer, Kaiser as a 3 and D wing - in the league, and I'd imagine part of what they'll be doing this summer is trying to establish those identities.

Both guys will end up cashing checks somewhere; whether or not that ends up to be in the NBA remains to be seen
