First, the news:
Xavier commit Keonte Kennedy has received his release, he tells @Rivals. Available shot making guard from the 2018 class this spring https://t.co/374vcHBnqx

This probably doesn’t come as a huge shock. Xavier is deep at guard and added Kyle Castlin to take up minutes on the perimeter and Ryan Welage to shoot jumpers since Kennedy committed. He would have certainly been a part of a roster squeeze this season.
Looking forward, Xavier figures to have two more years of Q, two or three of Paul Scruggs, and whatever amount of collegiate service four-star commit Samari Curtis out of Xenia should offer. Additionally, Xavier is still in on transfer guards MaCio Teague and Dru Smith.
It’s hard to say where exactly Kennedy would have fit in this year or in the future. I don’t think this is Xavier losing a guy so much as X and a player both seeing the writing on the wall and making a decision that is going to be good for both of them.
