Xavier to meet the winner of the play-in game in Nashville in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament

The entirety of Xavier’s efforts this season have been distilled into the only number that matters from here until the season ends.

Xavier has pulled a 1 seed in the West regional; their opponents will be either Texas Southern or NC Central, both of whom got here by an automatic bid out of the SWAC and MEAC, respectively. Xavier announced late again, but there was no suspense this year.

Neither team boasts a win in the top half of D1. Texas Southern's best win is Prairie View A&M, while NCC's is Hampton.

Xavier’s first round game will be played on Friday in Nashville, TN, and we’ll let you know as soon as the tip times are announced. Should the good Lord smile upon the Musketeers with a win in the first round, the winner of Missouri and Florida State will be waiting with a bid to the Sweet 16 on the line. That bridge can be crossed if/when the Musketeers arrive upon it.
