Quentin Goodin will not play in Xavier's opener against IUPUI

The Musketeers' point guard has been slowed by a shoulder problem and will be held out of tomorrow's game.

According to Coach Steele in today's press conference, Quentin Goodin will not play in the team's home opener against IUPUI. Goodin, who has been recovering from a dislocated left shoulder, has been Xavier's point guard since taking over the position midway through his freshman season when Ed Sumner went down.

Steele said Q probably could play against the Jaguars, but the better move for him and the team is to exercise some patience and play for the long term. Q has been participating in non-contact practice, getting extra shots up, and keeping his conditioning in game shape. In the meantime, Paul Scruggs will get the start at the point.

Xavier's opener against IUPUI is scheduled for 8:30 tomorrow evening. The Muskies open as 20-point favorites.
