Man, I loved that backcourt.
By now, you know Tu Holloway is a member of the Xavier Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2017-18. You know that he’s sixth in career points (1,833), third in assists (550) and first in free throw percentage (.852). Now everyone who falls in love with Xavier sports and wanders through the Hall of Fame will eventually know, too.
For those of us who got to see him play, the numbers don’t make the Hall of Fame case. If you saw him, you don’t need me to tell you what I mean. If you didn’t, I don’t think I can explain it to you.
We were never out of a game while we had Tu. We would never not have the toughest player on the court. It was never going to be over.
Ask Vandy. Ask Purdue. Ask Notre Dame. Tu’s numbers put him in the Hall of Fame, but they hardly encapsulate the magic of having #52 on your team.
