The Return of the Runningman

New, comments

They came back in the short term last year, and Xavier couldn’t ignore the feedback.

Xavier is bringing sexy back.

When Xavier announced that they were unveiling new uniforms “Runningman” was the word on everyone’s lips and Twitter feed. With the final announcement of the new uniform series came the new home alternates, and it was all anyone could have hoped for.

Watch all the way to the end to see the uniform in its full glory. Trevon Bluiett wore the first iteration when he dispatched Seton Hall on an ankle that wasn’t really working, and this is the evolution. As someone who was underwhelmed with the new look, I think these hit that niche between campy and new that Xavier was missing a look in.

They are retro, but not so far back that they only invoke echoes to the people who fondly recall the times when the three point arc wasn’t even an idea. They are retro cool, but not in some hipster way that the common fan can’t appreciate. In short, they are just about pitch perfect. If you aren’t picturing these on December 2nd against UC or jogging onto the court in Xavier’s first Final Four, well, you might be beyond help.
