Is it still a Crosstown Derby if it is no longer in the same town? Xavier and UC will hit the pitch today for the soccer variation on Cincinnati's most heated rivalry, but they’ll be doing it in Kentucky. Thanks to the same weather issues that rendered the Xavier soccer complex unplayable for what should have been a home game against Dartmouth, Xavier will now “host” UC across the river at NKU.
It’s not all bad news though, because the Norse are allowing both free tickets and free parking (info below) for the game. Given the drive itself is less than 20 minutes, that’s not a bad deal for a game that gives the Musketeers a good chance to grab their second win of the year. Xavier’s shirt giveaway has also been canceled, but fans are still encouraged to wear white. It never rains, but it pours has perhaps never seemed so quite apt as a sporting idiom.
Parking for NKU soccer matches is available for in Lot O, adjacent to the NKU Soccer Stadium and The BB&T Arena. Additional parking, if necessary, is available in the Welcome Center Garage and adjacent surface lots. For information on accessible parking or other general inquiries regarding parking, contact NKU Parking Services.
