Xavier v. Vanderbilt 2016 Nashville regional baseball postponed

Due to rain and lightning, Xavier and Vanderbilt will not play tonight. Instead, the Muskies and Commodores will square off at 1ET/12CT to open their respective regional experiences.

Because the schedule is going to be changing, it is also going to be compressed. Instead of getting a night's rest after the opener, both of these teams will be playing twice tomorrow. The loser will turn around and play in an elimination game scheduled for 5ET/4CT against Washington, who dropped an extra-innings affair against UC Santa Barbara in the early game today. The winner will take on UCSB in the late game on Saturday, with whoever wins that game squarely in the driver's seat.

The cruelty of any tournament like this is that someone is going to show up, lose two games, and go home without tasting anything like glory. The situation is compounded now that whoever loses between Xavier and Vandy tomorrow will be fighting to avoid going from having not played to being eliminated in the span of about six hours.
