Xavier forward Makinde London to transfer

The Musketeers will lose their willowy but talented forward to homesickness.

If you were wondering where Xavier might find room for a grad transfer, now you know. Redshirt freshman Makinde London is transferring out of the program per GoXavier.com. The release reads in part:

"Makindé stated to us that he has a desire to transfer closer to home," said Xavier head coach Chris Mack. "We appreciate Makinde's contributions to our program and wish him well."

London had taken a developmental redshirt his first year on campus, and he got spotty playing time behind Xavier's talented front line last year. Perhaps with Sean O'Mara sticking around, Kaiser Gates playing well, and Eddie Ekiyor, Tyrique Jones, and RaShid Gaston all coming eligible next year, Makinde thought the writing was on the wall.

Xavier has been linked to transfers such as New Mexico's Cullen Neal and D2 wing Max Strus. Trevon Bluiett and Jalen Reynolds still have their names in the draft for Xavier, pending the NBA combine.
