This is my nightmare

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *breath* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *breath* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

I wrote yesterday about the nervousness that comes with being chalk. Some people understood. Others told me to calm down and we'd get through it as a team. Both sides made good points.

Then this happened.

"This," if you haven't been watching, was #15 Middle Tennessee State beating #2 Michigan State in a fairly comprehensive fashion. MTSU started the game on a 15-2 run and led wire to wire. The Spartans kept bringing it back into touching distance; Middle Tennessee kept answering.

Down the stretch a team that shot 60% from the line on the season continued to be miserable from there and continued to play well enough that it didn't matter. By the time they were salting the game away with stops, a low-grade tension was building in the living room here at Banners North.

The Conference USA tournament champions just took down the Big Ten tournament champions. The clearly better team at 2pm had its season ended before the stroke of 5.

Xavier tips against the Big Sky's Weber State at about 9:30 tonight. It's 5pm right now, and we all know X is the better team. I hope we're still holding that at midnight.
