Villanova tops the polls, but check out what voters did to Xavier

New, comments

Villanova rightfully sits at the top, but Xavier takes a serious slap in the face. Also debuting a new feature, Doofus of the Week.

The Big East now sits atop the polls but, lest you think that means respect, scroll down. I'll wait. Yes, you just rightly noticed that of the nine teams that comprise the top top nine cumulative spots, Xavier, ranked either fourth or fifth, is the only one not to garner a first place vote. I've ranted at length about all this before and you don't need to read it all again, but this is just getting crazy. UNC has dropped two straight? First place! Michigan State fresh off that loss to powerful Nebraska and a win over freaking Rutgers? First place! Xavier, with two losses on the year and winners of five straight? Fifth seems about right. Doofus of the Week:

If the guys about to be named come across this, I hope they take it in the entirely good-natured way it is intended.

That said, Chris Dachille and Mark Berman voted for Chattanooga this week. Chattanooga's best win this year is over Dayton back before Christmas, and they rock exactly one other top 100 victory. The Mocs are, however, 16-2 against teams ranked 150th or worse and somehow lost to Furman by 15. So, to you guys, we only have one thing to say.
