Trevon Bluiett named a finalist for Julius Erving award

According to this tweet from Jeff Borzello, Trevon Bluiett is one of ten finalists for the Julius Erving award this year.

The Julius Erving award is given annually by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame to the nation's top small forward. If you're wondering why this is the first you're hearing of it, it's probably because the just started the award last year. Arizona's Stanley Johnson won, for what that's worth.

Trevon is on the list with some pretty impressive names, so you would have to feel like he faces an uphill battle to win the award. If he plays like Second Half Tre for whole games though, I guess anything is possible.

Since the award is affiliated with ESPN, I suspect Ben Simmons will end up winning it. It's not even clear at this point that Tre is a #greenroomguy. Whatever.

What is clear is that Trevon is having a monster year and is a huge part of what Xavier is doing right now. If he can keep it up and help Xavier go on a deep run, they can give the Julius Erving award to Tyler Hansbrough for all I care.
