Just a year ago, Xavier in the top 10 was both novel and incredibly exciting. While that excitement may not have worn off, the novelty now has. The Musketeers now sit ninth in the AP poll and eighth in the Coaches poll. You can go ahead and speculate as to why we’ve not come up with a singular poll for college basketball, but there is some interest in seeing where teams land with separate sets of people grading them...I guess. Here’s how the AP stacks up this week.

Doofus of the Week:
John Feinstein made an appearance or two here last year, and he kicks off the feature for this year by selecting Tennessee State in the top 25. Not Middle Tennessee, not ETSU, certainly not the Volunteers, but Tennessee State. The Tigers beat MTSU, the 141st ranked team in the KenPom, but haven’t beaten another team in the top 200 and have two non D-I teams coming up on the schedule. I know most teams only have four or five games in, but come on John Feinstein, at least do something that makes sense.
