SI projects Trevon Bluiett to lead Xavier's offensive attack this year

Sports Illustrated's Luke Winn sees Trevon as the 20th-leading scorer for the upcoming college hoops season

Welcome, basketball nerds. Sports Illustrated's Luke Winn, in many ways the vice chief of our tribe behind only Ken Pomeroy, has once again emerged from his mother's basement with a trove of numbers for us to digest. Today's offering consists of his projections regarding the 100 leading scorers for the upcoming college basketball season. Clocking in at number 20 is our own Trevon Bluiett.

The numbers see Trevon good for 16.9 PPG and an ORtg of 121.6, both meaningful steps up for the 15.1/114.2 that he posted last year. It should be noted that Trevon's numbers from last year were nothing to sneeze at in their own right. Tre has gotten buckets on the back of his offensive savvy and silky-smooth jumper in his two years at Xavier, and the best-shape-of-his-life stories coming out of the preseason about him should be encouraging in terms of how they portend his production this year.

Aside from Bluiett, no other Musketeer features in the top 100 in this projection. You can take that as a bad thing in that Xavier will just have the one top-tier scorer, or you can see it as a positive in that JP, Ed, Kaiser, (hopefully) Myles, and the rest of the squad will all be so productive that there just aren't enough buckets to go around. I know which one I've chosen.

We're well under a month to go to game time. I'm beside myself with anticipation.
