After speculation that Xavier led the race for highly sought after guard Paul Scruggs, Muskie fans will be glad to see Chris Mack and his staff have added another potentially big piece to the Musketeers going forward. Scruggs is Xavier's highest ranked recruit by most services in quite some time, landing somewhere around 30th in his class in the rankings. Adding him makes the 2017 class another doozy for X and certainly makes it in the top 5 in the nation. Xavier left the A-10 for the Big East knowing they would have a chance at bigger time recruits, and it looks like they have hit the nail on the head again here.
Scruggs is listed at 6'3" or 6'4" and around 200 pounds, which fits with the physicality Big East play demands at every position. His biggest draw for scouts has been his athleticism and ability to put the ball on the floor, as well as his ability to use his body on defense. With Quentin Goodin and Ed Sumner taking the floor this yea for X, it would seem that exciting, athletic, physically imposing guards are becoming the norm at X and Scruggs looks like he will fit the bill perfectly.
