ESPN released its top 100 list for 2016 college basketball recruits today, and Xavier's Quentin Goodin and Tyrique Jones were both on the list. Jones landed at 91st and Goodin at 94th in a class being described as loaded by people paid to assess such things.
Scouts praise Jones for his rugged approach to post play and aggressive rebounding while identifying offense that isn't dunking as a place for him to improve. Goodin is an aggressive slasher with good distribution skills whose jumper could use some extra consistency from range.
With about half of the players in the 2016 class committed, the Big East has five. Villanova's Omari Spellman lands in the top 20, and Butler and Marquette each feature one player on the list. Xavier is the only team in the league with more than one top 100 commitment at this point.
Of course, that could all chance before the signing period this fall. We'll keep an eye on things in that regard and let you know when these two commitments become official. In the meantime, the 2016 class is looking like another good one for X.
