Scout just released an updated top 100 and Xavier has targets all over it. The Musketeers have offers out to a couple of players who are rising very quickly in PF Jonathan Isaac and SG Markelle Fultz.
Isaac is a 6'9" stretch four who has grown three inches in the past year and can score the ball from all three levels. He has a high motor and is averaging 14.2 and 5.6 on the summer circuit for E1T1. Fultz is a 6'4" SG who can flat-out score the basketball. Both Fultz and Isaac have high levels of interest from the top programs in the country, so landing either of them would be a major coup for Xavier.
Two of the more intriguing names for the Musketeers that have popped up on the top 100 are guards Xavier Simpson and CJ Walker. Walker is a former Purdue commit who shows up on the list at number 100; he was recently tweeting out how much he enjoyed his visit to Xavier's campus. Simpson is number 74 and has been the subject of a decent amount of speculation among Xavier fans.
Both players are local, both are tough-minded guards accustomed to winning. Both also stand under 6' tall; we'll take a look tomorrow at how that might affect what they could be expected to do in the Big East. It is presumed that no more than one of them could find his way onto Xavier's roster.
Quick rising 6'5" shooter Kevin Huerter at 63, big men Taurean Thompson (77) and Joey Brunk (92), and local star Jarron Cumberland (90) are among the other names Xavier is tracking that show up on the top 100. The entire top 100 can be found here, while a full list of 2016 players who have had interest in or from Xavier at any point in the recruiting cycle is available here.
