2016 G Xavier Simpson (no longer planning) to make decision tomorrow

Let's play that game where we speculate on the mental processes of a high school kid.

I don't have any pictures of Simpson in file.

Update: Simpson is no longer planning to commit tomorrow, also per his AAU team.

First of all, the predictions:

KenPom's recruiting forecast doesn't embed a pretty little graphic, but you can see the prediction in this table:

2016 PASR Recruiting Forecast
Xavier Simpson Xavier (60%) Toledo (23%) Cleveland St. (15%) Iowa (2%)
Others: Texas Tech (less than 1%)

The long and short of it is that it seems likely that Simpson will choose Xavier tomorrow evening. He is listed anywhere between 5'11", 165 and 6'1", 175 depending on where you look. Scouting reports indicate that he can score the ball a little bit but is more comfortable in a distribution role.

He is described as tough and cerebral, and he's not afraid to put his body on the line at both ends of the floor. His shooting is streaky, but he's not afraid to take big shots with the game on the line. Basically, his report reads like a line-for-line copy of Dee Davis's when he came out of high school. Hopefully he lands at X and ends up having just as decorated a career.

Here are some highlights:

One potentially interesting coda to this decision is the idea that Simpson and 2016 top-100 wing Jarron Cumberland out of Wilmington, OH are very interested in going to school together. Cumberland is a 6'4", 200-pound scorer with interest from UC, Purdue, Ohio State, and a host of others. He holds an offer from Xavier, but that relationship has supposedly cooled in recent weeks. Stay tuned for what impact Simpson's commitment will have on Cumberland's recruiting.
