Sterling Gibbs transferring, eligible immediately; do you want him?

This is interesting.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

According to Alex Kline of The Recruit Scoop, Sterling Gibbs is leaving Seton Hall and will be eligible to play immedately. Ignoring for a moment that this is the exact opposite of what he said he'd do back in March and it's not clear that he'll be allowed to transfer within the Big East, he can't transfer within the Big East, which is sad, pretend you're Coach Mack and he shoots you a text right now saying he wants to join Xavier. Do you take him?

The case against it is fairly obvious: he's coming from Seton Hall, easily the most dysfunctional program in the league. He punched that one dude in the face during a game. He's a chippy player that flirts with the line between that and dirty on a regular basis. He doesn't bring a lot in terms of leadership. He might have a mild, ongoing beef with Myles Davis. But...

He's insanely talented a position where Xavier lacks both depth and a clear starter. His assist rate and TO% were both elite during his two years at Seton Hall. He can score from inside and beyond the arc and is a reliable distributor. There is no question that he's not afraid of the big moment, and he certainly brings the meanness that Xavier was lacking at times last year.

So Sterling Gibbs is available. Do you want Xavier to go get him?
