KenPom Bracketology 3/11

Top seeds fell on Monday and Tuesday, necessitating a shuffling of the s-curve again. With just four days left until Selection Sunday, here's what the bracket looks like.

This is a heck of a time of year, particularly for schools in one-bid leagues. St. Francis (NY) and South Dakota State followed Murray State as top-KenPom teams to fail to win their conference's automatic bid. None of the schools has a realistic case to be made for inclusion on an at-large basis either on KenPom or in real life, leaving five months of good work broken in the span of 40 minutes of basketball.

The major conference tournaments are getting into full swing today, meaning there will be just one more automatic bid handed out until the weekend. In the meantime, here's what the KenPom machine spat out once I got it up and running this morning.

First the s-curve:

The KenPom s-curve 03/11/15
1 KENTUCKY ARIZONA VIRGINIA WISCONSIN
2 Utah Duke GONZAGA VILLANOVA
3 KANSAS Oklahoma NORTHERN IOWA Baylor
4 Notre Dame North Carolina Iowa St. Wichita St.
5 Louisville Ohio St. Iowa Texas
6 West Virginia Butler Michigan St. Georgetown
7 DAVIDSON SMU Xavier SAN DIEGO STATE
8 Maryland Oklahoma St. Arkansas BYU
9 Cincinnati St. John's Boise St. North Carolina St.
10 Vanderbilt VCU Georgia Providence
11 Dayton LSU STEPHEN F. AUSTIN Stanford
12 Purdue Florida Texas A&M Mississippi
12 OLD DOMINION BUFFALO
13 VALPARAISO GEORGIA STATE YALE UC DAVIS
14 VERMONT NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL NEW MEXICO STATE WOFFORD
15 NORTHEASTERN NORTH FLORIDA MANHATTAN EASTERN WASHINGTON
16 ROBERT MORRIS NORTH DAKOTA STATE BELMONT COASTAL CAROLINA
16 COLGATE TEXAS SOUTHERN
First four out Oregon Richmond UCLA Temple
Next four out Illinois Miami (FL) Indiana Alabama

And the bracket:

There you have it. Xavier pulls Duke, who I consider stronger than either Utah or Gonzaga as a two seed. Of course, this will all change once the tournaments get rolling on into the weekend. We'll keep you up to date as it does with brackets on Friday and Sunday before the Selection show.
