2015 PG Traci Carter to commit today after visiting Xavier and Marquette

Connecticut and Louisville also very much in the mix.

UPDATE: per everybody and his mom, Carter chose Marquette today. Xavier retains at least one open scholarship for next year, pending any transfer activity.

Traci Carter is a 6'0" point guard out of Burlington, New Jersey who has really shot up recruiting rankings lately; he will be verbally committing today at noon. ESPN, Rivals, and Scout all have him as a four-star player. Scouting reports indicate he can run an offense in the half and full court and is also capable of getting his own shot.

Carter has been linked to a number of high-major programs, including Louisville, UConn, and Creighton, but his most recent official visits have been to Xavier on February 28th and Marquette on March 7th.

With Dee Davis graduating and Edmond Sumner having taken a medical redshirt, the appeal of Carter is obvious. Larry Austin, Jr. figures to have the first shot at point guard minutes, but having a capable and healthy play on the roster to back him up or push for his spot would be a huge boost for Xavier.

For what it's worth, 24/7's crystal ball doesn't favor X on this one, though I'm not sure how up to date this information is:

Here are some highlights of Carter in action to whet your appetite:
