The Muskies will be a 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament, where they will take on NC State in the Midwest Regional this Tuesday at UD Arena. Xavier is basically playing to earn their way into a four-team, single-elimination tournament with a bid to the Sweet 16 on the line right now. If they make it out of their first game, they'll be pitted against Saint Lou in Orlando.
Xavier's bid to the tournament probably bumps this year into the range where it has to be considered a success no matter what happens next. It was supposed to be the second year of a continued reloading project for X, who was picked to finish seventh in the ten-team Big East, but the team came together and put up just enough good wins to get back to where they belong in March.
Kudos to Coach Mack and the staff for pulling many of the right strings along the way. For all that has transpired up until this point, Xavier is now just a seven-game win streak from the national championship. They're going to have to beat some good teams to get there, but that's always going to be the case if you want to get the ring.
