Kaiser Gates made it official by signing an LOI with Xavier today. The three-star recruit can play both forward positions and is Xavier's first signee of the 2015 class. Gates brings length and athleticism to Xavier's front line as well as the ability to hit mid-range jump shots of the catch or bounce. His three-point shot is also an asset when his feet are set.
Gates stands 6'8" and can finish above the rim with aplomb. His consistency on the glass could use some work, but he possesses intriguing upside heading into his senior season. Gates signed with Xavier over interest from Florida State, Georgia, and Missouri, among others.
While Xavier still has one more open scholarship for the 2015-2016 squad, it's not clear that they are going to fill it right away. With the monster six-man class of this year and only two seniors departing, look for Mack to keep the spot open for a potential immediately-eligible transfer or to fill holes with the impressive 2016 class. Of course, things can change quickly in recruiting, so take every prognostication (including that one) with a grain of salt.
Xavier Nation please welcome the newest Musketeer, Kaiser Gates @Kaisergates 2 the X family. Georgia native, St Francis HS & Atlanta Celtic!
