After a fortnight in which sources ranging from white girls named Anna to old ladies named Nana were reporting that Aleksander Vezenkov was not going to come to Xavier, it appears that the news is now official. Vezenkov was somewhere between solid and very good at the U18 Eurobasket, and that performance was at least in part responsible for Aris offering him a three-year contract. His decision is fairly understandable; given the choice between getting paid to do something I love at home and travelling overseas to do it for free, I think I know what I would settle on.
In another development, Xavier is "no longer recruiting" 2014 PF Melvin Swift. Swift is a high-flying athlete from Texas whose game is raw but whose athletic ability held great promise. There are rumors swirling regarding exactly what could be the reasoning for the two parting ways, but the most credible stories involve the fact that the assistant who recruited Swift is no longer at Xavier and there are some questions about Swift's skill level coming out from the summer. It also look likely that Swift wants to attend a school a little closer to home. Whatever the case, look for Xavier to move back into a more active mode in the recruiting market.
I'll update the scholarship chart tomorrow. Man do I hate the summer.
