It's an abbreviated version of the Shootaround that, somehow, brings even more bad news. Isaiah Philmore has been suspended by the NCAA for the first three games of the upcoming season. That leaves Xavier with seven scholarship players for Fairleigh Dickinson, Butler, and Robert Morris.
Philmore out the first three games: Apparently a lack of due diligence on Towson's part is now catching up to the Musketeers. Towson may be retroactively docked games, but that won't help the situation that Xavier is in now. This is the kind of ill fortune that no program can be ready for.
Sweet 16: Isaiah Philmore, Xavier: This is a good look at the player the Musketeers will be missing. Philmore will have to carry a good deal of the scoring load when he does return. Unfortunately, that won't be until after one of the early non conference (Butler) tests.
